Separate waiting areas
We understand the apprehension each animal feels in a hospital environment. Why escalate the situation any further? Dogs like to check each other out, however, for the fearful or the aggressive, there is enough space to keep their distance.
Cats are solitary animals and can hide in their space next to their owners. We even have a room dedicated to weighing them with a specialized scale, so they feel more at ease.

Greeting: Entrance and Exit strategy
Ever been to a business where everyone is crowded around one person in tight quarters? At the Lainer Animal Hospital of Canton the last thing we want is an unhappy pet or provider. You can sit and talk to the receptionist from a comfortable chair or couch. There are even separate check out counters. Tie your dogs leash to the hand rail so you can be more comfortable while you check in or out, you are not being pulled by Fido.

Outpatient Services
The Lainer Animal Hospital is a full service veterinary facility. This means that whether your pet is here for routine vaccinations or a medical emergency, we are equipped to take care of almost every need.
Preventative medicine is our first calling. Vaccinations against potentially fatal viruses and bacteria's are a necessity for every dog and cat. Wellness profiles through blood and urine can alert us to underlying medical issues. Our pets age so much quicker than humans, therefore it is a priority that their hearts are examined as well as their skin and musculature for abnormal growths, and complete ear and eye assessments completed. All of the items that your physician checks yearly on you, we check on your pet.
Doggy Day Care
A central component in your dog's health is being physically fit. We offer a daycare program with both full and partial days available. We have a beautiful 1000 square foot playroom which is fully air conditioned/heated and supervised by trained personnel. The waterproof walls and padded flooring are specifically made to prevent wear and tear of the canine joints. The dogs are constantly monitored and walked by our trained staff, on leash on the outside for bathroom breaks as much as needed. If accidents do occur, there is a shower room abutting the daycare room in which they can be cleaned up. Because your dog is primarily indoors playing, not rolling in the dirt, they will be coming home tired but clean! No where else is there a veterinarian on the premises in case of any problems your dog needs attending to, as well as daily medicines which may need to be administered. An intake evaluation is completed on every new dog that comes into the program prior to being accepted so that the population can maintain a fun atmosphere without a lot of aggression.

Grooming
If you look good, you feel good. The same applies to Fido and Fluffy. Baths, manicures and pedicures and hair cuts all can be taken care of by our grooming staff. The grooming area is in a separate area from the hospitalized animals, so that each pet can be tended to individually. Whether a medicated bath is needed or just a day of beauty, our grooming staff will tend to your pets every need.

Surgery Premise
State of the art equipment ensures your pet goes into and comes out of surgery as healthy and pain free as possible. Constant updated anesthesia protocols along with pain management are used daily. Pulse oximeters, blood pressure monitors, intravenous drip monitors, oscilloscopes and a trained veterinary technician are present at all times to monitor your pet's vitals and anesthesia. Doctor Lainer is fully licensed to perform most surgical and dental procedures. Doctor Lainer has a board certified orthopedic specialist for bone fractures and other bone surgeries. All of the work is done on the premises.

Radiology
Radiographs are performed on site, reviewed in the hospital as well as transmitted via internet to a board certified radiologist for further examination.
Ultrasonography
A traveling, world renown, board certified cardiologist performs all of our echocardiograms and ultrasounds. He can also perform endoscopies and ultrasound guided biopsies on site if necessary for further diagnosis.
Laboratory
On site blood chemistry analyzer for emergency or pre-operative blood analysis is available. Blood, urine, fecal and biopsy reports can also be performed in house as well as sent to our national laboratory.
Pharmacy
A fully stocked pharmacy enables clients to fill all their pet's medicines. You can begin treatment immediately without having to travel and wait for a commercial pharmacy to fill a prescription. Medications such as heartworm preventative and flea and tick control are available as well, again without waiting.
Recovery
We have comfortable, quiet and sanitary recovery banks for in hospital medical and surgical cases. A trained veterinary technician constantly monitors these cases until the patient is released into their providers care. Our patients get more hands on care than human patients at any local hospital.
After hours
Imagine trying to contact your family doctor after his/her office hours end? A machine will instruct you to call an emergency hospital.
Our clients have an old fashioned alternative, speaking directly to their veterinarian. Doctor Lainer takes calls at all hours. Once a determination has been made, it can be decided if emergency care is necessary and where your pet can obtain the best care. Some emergencies can wait until morning hours, others can be treated by Doctor Lainer at the Lainer Animal Hospital while the remainder need overnight care by a team of emergency doctors and staff. The most important fact is that you can obtain solid medical advice by someone you trust, immediately.
Our Annual "Howl-o-ween" Pet Party
Every year since our beginning (17 years now), on the last weekend in October. The Lainer Animal Hospital of Canton hosts a free costume party for pets. A gathering of over 100 pet owners and their costumed four legged friend, attend a competition with judges, prizes, refreshments and fun. There are 3 categories in which a prize is awarded to the top in each...dog, cat and other, which has included over the years, horses, goats and turtles to name a few. Everyone enjoys the ingenuity and effort placed into making the costumes. Often times you'll end up in the local paper, The Boston Globe and on television. Come join us in the fun and pride of being an animal lover.
